Bronx residents without running water after Van Nest water main break
The water main break is sending water into the streets.

Streets in the Van Nest section of the Bronx flooded Thursday after a water main break sent water gushing from the ground and pouring down Hunt Avenue.
Field operators with the Department of Environmental Protection were at the scene assessing the damage and working to repair the break.
Residents say they’ve been without running water for hours.
“We can’t flush our toilets, obviously...we can’t prepare our meals,” said neighbor Jessica Rosado, whose building has been without water since the morning.
Others say the flooding spread quickly.
“We noticed the water coming out the side like someone opened the hydrant. Then I look up—it’s pouring out the tree and now it’s coming out the sidewalk,” one resident told News 12.
The FDNY responded to the scene early Thursday and warned neighbors that the water could wash away dirt beneath the road, possibly causing the street to collapse.
Residents say they’ve been told repairs could take several hours. One neighbor, Maria, told News 12 that she’s growing anxious because she can’t wash her face or shower due to an eye condition that requires frequent cleaning.
The Department of Environmental Protection said crews remain are still assessing the situation.
