FDNY firefighters say they are hot under the collar over the city trying to strip Bronx and city lockers of American flag decals and pictures of loved ones.
According to firefighters, the city wants to use a relatively new rule that says firefighters' lockers cannot be decorated. The FDNY says the policy only applies to improper materials. While the Uniformed Firefighters Association admits a firefighter may have posted something inappropriate, it says everyone should not be punished. Union members stood with their attorneys Wednesday at City Hall to say they will fight the city.
The union is distributing thousands of American flag decals. It is encouraging firefighters to stick them on their lockers along with Mass cards, pictures of loved ones lost in the 9/11 attacks and those killed in Iraq.
