Festivities kicked off at the New York Botanical Garden for the 12th annual Fiesta de Flores event on Wednesday night.
The event commemorates the people of Latin American and Caribbean culture in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Musical performances took place ahead of the ceremony that honored champions in the community, including mainstay Bronx leaders like Miguel Angel Amadeo, who owns the city’s oldest music store.
Ariana Collado, executive director of the Bronx Democratic County Committee, and Melissa Cebollero, associate vice president for community relations at Montefiore-Einstein, were honored as well.
