Police say a fire Wednesday morning in Peekskill is linked to an incident Tuesday night.
Police say officers responded at 12:25 a.m. to 7 North James St. for a report of an altercation and a person suffering from a stab wound.
Police say officers arriving at the scene found 48-year-old Edward Reeves with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries.
Police say officers attempted around 11:30 a.m. to speak with a person of interest, located at 10 Grant Ave.
They say the person became uncooperative and barricaded himself in the home. Police also saw that the building was on fire.
Authorities say the person exited the home through a second-floor window and was taken into police custody.
The fire was quickly extinguished, and no other people were found inside the home.
