A fire tore through two floors of a Jerome Park apartment building, firefighters say.
The fire began in a fifth-floor apartment on Sedgewick Avenue, investigators say, before moving through the sixth floor and the roof.
Firefighters responded within five minutes, according to officials. With any delay, the flames could have consumed the whole building, they say.
Officials report that no one was injured.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
