Fire crews remain at the site of the former Singer sewing machine factory in Elizabeth which caught on fire early Friday morning.
The fire started around 5:30 a.m. inside one of the buildings on the campus and spread to multiple other buildings. About 100 firefighters from New Jersey and New York came to battle the fire.
Elizabeth officials say that the fire dwindled overnight.
The Department of Environmental Protection says it is monitoring the air quality around the area. Officials say they are focused on downwind locations and sensitive populations like schools and hospitals.
None of the businesses occupying the building in the complex are known to handle hazardous materials.
No injuries were reported.
