Fire displaces several families on Crotona Avenue

A fire broke out sometime after midnight on Crotona Avenue in Belmont.

Residents said it started at 2166 Crotona Ave. and spread to a neighboring building.

News 12 is waiting for official information from the FDNY but residents said everyone living in the two buildings were able to make it out safely.

Several families are now displaced telling News 12 they are being given hotel accommodations by the American Red Cross.

The fire happened about half a mile away from the deadly fire at 660 E 187 St. in Belmont on Tuesday that killed two people.
