Families in Highbridge are left wondering where they will sleep after a massive fire ravaged through their apartments.
The FDNY says the seventh floor of the building, located on the 1300 block of Nelson Avenue, caught fire around 10:30 a.m., Tuesday morning. It was not immediately clear how it started.
Black smoke and large flames began billowing off the eight-story apartment building’s roof, stripping residents of their homes.
“My son’s bed was caught in the middle of all this,” said Arnescia Oenilla. “Where is he going to sleep tonight?”
The American Red Cross is working to help displaced families, as fire marshals investigate.
