FDNY officials responded to a 911 call Saturday around 12 p.m. of a building on fire after residents told News 12 they smelled burning fumes coming from the building's roof.

"It looked like smoke, like it was just someone's heat, but then I turned, and I saw the deep, orange flames," said one resident who called 911 and let firefighters onto the roof.

Video shows firefighters pouring water directly on what appears to be fiber-optic wires and transmitters on the building's roof.

No injuries were reported.

Red Cross officials on the scene told News 12 the 6th floor units suffered minor water damage.

Residents inside said they grabbed their belongings and ran as fast as they could when they saw the smoke.

"We grabbed our things...our whole family, we took the stairs, and we saw the firefighters were already there," said Mazin, who lives in the building with his family.

A cause of the fire was not immediately known.
