A firefighter was killed while responding to a building fire Saturday in East Flatbush, according to officials.
The flames broke out just after 9:30 p.m. on the sixth floor of the building at 9407 Kings Highway.
It took a total of 12 units and over 60 first responders to control the blaze.
First Deputy Fire Commissioner Mark Guerra identified the deceased firefighter as 42-year-old Patrick Brady.
Authorities say he was operating on the roof when he suffered a medical episode and went into cardiac arrest.
Brady was an 11 year veteran of the department. Mayor Adams also says he came from a family of firefighters — all dedicated to protecting the lives of people in New York.
Shortly after his death, the FDNY saluted Brady as his body was wheeled out of the hospital.
