9h agoFirefighters and NYPD Special Ops say they performed an "extraordinary rescue" Sunday morning after a man fell 30 feet down a storm drain.
The incident took place near the Cross Island Parkway and Whitestone Expressway in Queens. The man was rescued when a firefighter used a ladder to go down into the storm drain hoisting him out of danger.
"I'm very happy to report that the victim that was removed, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and now is at New York Presbyterian Hospital," FDNY Assistant Chief Michael Gallo says.
It's not clear if the accident was related to storm damages. How the victim fell is under investigation.
