The first flights to come out of Hurricane Ian-ravaged Florida touched down in New York Friday evening.
The flights, out of Tampa and Orlando, landed at LaGuardia Airport.
Travelers in Florida this week saw hundreds of canceled flights as Ian wreaked havoc. FlightAware had a full listing of cancellations for thousands of travelers.
“So happy I could kiss this ground,” one returning traveler told News 12. “That's what I’m saying. I am really happy. Yes, we were supposed to come home Wednesday.
With New York seeing some aftereffects from Ian, the Office of Emergency Management has issued a weather advisory which is in effect for this weekend. They say heavy rains could cause localized floods and high winds could impact travel and property.
