Food Bank for NYC says new congestion toll could impact food industry

The Food Bank for New York City says the latest effort to reduce traffic with the new $9 toll could impact something as basic as food.
"So congestion pricing really takes away an opportunity for us to increase the amount of food that we're sending out into the marketplace," said Food Bank for NYC president and CEO Leslie Gordon.
News 12 reached out to the governor's office for comment. A spokesperson responded with a prepared statement that reads in part, "This program will make deliveries easier and faster. Businesses and organizations that have overnight deliveries will also be able to utilize a 75% overnight discount on congestion tolls."
"There's got to be some sort of middle ground, especially for organizations like us right here at Food Bank for New York City," said Gordon. "It's another 90,000 meals plus that we could be putting out across the boroughs. That's what congestion pricing is going to do to our organization here at Food Bank."
