Fordham University football coach Derrick Whittenberg recently turned to a St. Anthony High School junior to boost his improving program.
Five-foot-11-inch point guard Jiovanny Fontan is believed to be the first junior to commit to playing football at the Rose Hill campus. Fontan said the decision was easy.
"[It's] close to home, my family can come see me," Fontan said. Fontan also cited Whittenberg?s past success as a coach as a reason for his decision.
