Fordham University announced plans to invest in environmental justice with a $50 million Environmental Protection Act grant.
Officials say the funding will be used to address air pollution, food access and toxic cleanups in the boroughs.
"This is a red-letter day for Fordham and for environmental justice in New York and in the Bronx," says Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
This is the largest grant ever awarded to the university in its 183-year history.
Fordham is one of 11 schools selected nationwide for this program.
