Frederick Douglass Academy VII High School students received a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience to travel to Hawaii.
Fifteen high school students, part of the Brownsville Abroad Travel Club, say they're excited for their trip across the nation.
The exciting opportunity was paid for by the students' hard work as they hosted a 5K run, an art auction and car washes. The teens were determined to make their dreams come true after the pandemic kept them at their desks.
In Hawaii, the students get the chance to craft their own leis, participate in a cleansing ceremony and even harvest their own food for a luau. The students fly off to Hawaii next Monday.
For their next destination, the students say they'll want to visit Ghana.
