The NYPD Crime Prevention Division held a free AirTag giveaway in North Baychester Saturday to tackle the rise of thefts of Kias and Hyundais.

Drivers of 2011 to 2021 Kia models and 2015 to 2021 Hyundais qualified for the free devices.

NYPD officers also distributed steering wheel locks as theft preventative measures.

Crime Prevention Division Sgt. Jonathn Molina advises drivers to ensure that the doors of their vehicles are locked, never leave personal belongings inside.

Molina also urged drivers never to leave their cars running, even if they're quickly going into a store.

The NYPD Crime Prevention Division said it will continue to hold more giveaway events to not only help the community, but to connect with it.
