More than a dozen cities and towns in Connecticut took part in Make Music Day by hosting a number of free events on Monday.
The town of Fairfield held musical events from on the Sherman Green to Jennings Beach to the main library branch.
Concertgoers said it felt good to go out to see live music performances following a year of isolation due to the pandemic.
Over in Stamford, the entrance to the Ferguson Library was transformed into a stage. There were 27 acts throughout the downtown area.
The bands played all types of musical genres, from folk to Latin to gospel and more.
This is the fourth year the library has taken part in the event.
couple dozen painted pianos were recently installed downtown as part of the city's annual sculpture exhibit.  Famlies were encouraged to play on them for Make Music Day.
"It's just a way to celebrate culture, and at the same time enjoy it and everyone can listen in and relate to music," said Ferguson Library President Alice Knapp.
