Friends and family gathered at Caribe Funeral Home for 4-year-old Liliana Merdy's funeral, one of three siblings police believe were drowned by their mother exactly one week ago.
News 12 spoke with Shamir Small, the father 7-year-old Zachary Merdy and 4-year-old Liliana.
Liliana’s funeral took place just days after her mother was arraigned on murder charges in the deaths of Liliana, Zachary and 3-month-old Oliver Bondarev.
Their mother, 30-year-old Erin Merdy, was arraigned on Friday from her hospital bed at NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn as she undergoes a psychiatric evaluation.
Surveillance video taken just before 1 a.m. Monday shows Merdy walking on Coney Island beach with all three children. She was then seen two hours later on the boardwalk without them barefoot and wet.
The medical examiner determined the children were all drowned, ruling their deaths a homicide.
Merdy’s next court date is Tuesday at Brooklyn Criminal Court.
