Funeral services were held Saturday for two of the three people killed when a car jumped a curb in Morris Park on Halloween.
Hundreds attended the funeral of 10-year-old Nyanna Aquil and her grandfather, Louis Perez, at the Harvest Fields Community Church Saturday morning.
Perez, 65, had been taking his granddaughters trick-or-treating last weekend when a car spun out of control, killing him, Aquil and a third victim, Kristian Leka. Three others were injured.
A funeral for Leka was held earlier this week.
Police say the driver in the crash may have had a seizure.
Family members say they are choosing to celebrate the lives of Nyanna and Louis instead of falling into darkness.
Nyanna aspired to be a dancer and her grandfather was a Vietnam War veteran who had received a Purple Heart honor.
"He was teaching me how to be a man, how to be a husband, a father, a man amongst men," says Perez's son, Louis Perez Jr. "That's what I'll miss mostly are the lessons. But now it's time, it's time for me to take those lessons and teach them to my children and teach them to anyone else."
