Funeral services were held Saturday for Anthonaya Campbell, the 17-year-old girl killed by a stray bullet during a mass shooting in Baychester over the summer.
Campbell was from Hartford, Connecticut. She was visiting family in The Bronx when she was shot alongside five other people at Haffen Park on Aug. 23.
Police arrested four people in connection to the shooting. They were charged with murder, and three are facing gang assault and weapon charges.
"As much as you love and nurture your children, this is definitely not a day that you're looking forward to," said Jennifer Talbot, Anthonaya's mother.
A horse and carriage waited outside of the service while loved ones stood by to pay their respects to the teenager.
Talbot told News 12 she plans to start a nonprofit organization named after her daughter. A scholarship was announced at the ceremony in her Campbell’s name.
Talbot says she wants to rejoice in the memories she made with her daughter before setting her sights on justice.
