The future of Saint Dominic?s Church in Parkchester remains uncertain after it was added to a list of parishes slated to close in the New York Archdiocese.
Parishioners are upset the church may soon be closing. Some say the church may have been chosen to close because of lack of funding. Parishioners are urging community members to fight to keep the parish open.
Saint Dominic?s is on the list of parishes the archdiocese will either close or combine in a realignment plan. Parishes and schools can submit counterproposals to the archdiocese in an effort to keep them open. While Saint Dominic?s parish is slated to close, the school will stay open.
