Not all tomatoes grow like a vine and are super tall.
There are two types of tomatoes, determinate tomatoes, and indeterminate tomatoes.
Determinate tomatoes fruit all at once and then stop fruiting for the rest of the season. They mostly grow and ripe in about two weeks.
Meanwhile, indeterminate tomatoes grow wild and super tall. You can pick fruit on and off all season, but they are not great to make sauces that require tomatoes all at once. However, most people would be most excited to grow indeterminate tomatoes.
Some tips for planting tomatoes – plant stems about an inch or two deep and keep the plants separated from each other.
