Members of Brooklyn’s LGBTQIA community in Bayridge came together on Sunday for GayRidge’s third annual Pumpkin Festival, a day filled with fall-themed arts and crafts.

Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes flooded the Brooklyn Firefly for the event.

"One of the best things about this community is that it's a queer community of all ages. There's so many families here in GayRidge. We're proud to bring this event," said the festival organizer McKenzie Keating.

The GayRidge organization was created back in 2019 so that the LGBTQIA community has a safe space to be themselves.

"It's important to support our neighbors and our family and just for them to know that love is love," said parent Joanna Capetanakis.

From Pride picnics to coffee, meet ups and seasonal activities, the pumpkin festival allowed everyone to enjoy the fun that Halloween brings.

The festival also gave an opportunity for attendees to see who carved the best pumpkin in a friendly competition that brought out their artistic abilities.
