Gov. Kathy Hochul proposed a new initiative to expand state resources that she says will keep New Yorkers safe and businesses open.
Gov. Hochul announced the state is allocating $25 million to a retail theft unit in state police, $15 million for prosecutors and local law enforcement and $5 million for better security measures at small businesses.
The $45 million plan is expected to be part of the governor's 2025 budget.
