Gov. Kathy Hochul announced more than 100 unlicensed cannabis shops were shut down and padlocked between the first week of May and the first week in June.
Legal cannabis sales are up 27% since the shutdown of those shops, according to Gov. Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams.
The state launched a cannabis enforcement task force that gives the NYS Office of Cannabis Management the tools they need to go after these illegal stores.
Mayor Eric Adams recently kicked off the controversial “Operation Padlock to Protect," a campaign that gives law enforcement the authority to padlock cannabis shops that are selling and operating illegally.
