Gov. Hochul weighs in on congestion pricing pause

While the congestion pricing plan remains on hold, the governor says that it doesn’t mean that it won’t ever happen.

Gov. Kathy Hochul was at Bronx Borough Hall on Monday speaking to the media for the first time since her announcement about pausing congestion pricing.

The governor, when asked about the decision to pause congestion pricing, says that she is hearing from New Yorkers that the $15 toll is too much.

Hochul added that now is the time to explore other funding alternatives for MTA projects. While the congestion pricing plan remains on hold, she says that it doesn’t mean that it won’t ever happen.

The toll was expected to take effect on June 30 but the governor says the state and MTA must work together to find new ways to get critical transit projects the money they need to succeed.
