Some teachers are demanding a remote learning option as COVID-19 case numbers spike and classroom closures continue to plague public schools.

Teachers at Grace H. Dodge Career and Technical High School in the Bronx are no strangers to letting their voices be heard.

They rallied back in September when school was set to start for the year, and they were back at it Monday.

The staff says they still don't feel completely safe. In March 2020, the campus was one of the first schools to publicly announce a COVID-19 outbreak.

Teachers rallied today after seven of their co-workers tested positive for the coronavirus.

All of this comes as the mayor and mayor-elect add more testing sites around the five boroughs to help stop the spread and slow the increasing positivity rate.

While the cases are spiking, hospitalization rate is not nearly as high as was the last time we saw this many cases.
