La Central housing development is one step closer to completion with Friday's groundbreaking.

The housing community will soon have two new buildings filled with 420 affordable housing units. These units will range from studios to four-bedroom apartments.

A total of 114 units will be for extremely low-income households, 106 for very low-income households and 198 low-income households. A total of 63 supportive housing units for formerly homeless New Yorkers will also be included.

The first building in La Central Developments opened in 2019, the next two buildings opened in 2021.

Completion for the project is expected in 2028.
