John F. Kennedy International Airport held a groundbreaking on Thursday for JetBlue’s new world-class Terminal 6.
The new terminal -- costing nearly $4.2 billion -- will seamlessly connect to JetBlue’s Terminal 5 and will have 10 gates. The project is the product of a partnership between JFK Millennium Partners and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Gov. Kathy Hochul says the project is 100% privately funded and it completes the airport's transformation into a 21st century global gateway. She also added that the development is expected to create nearly 4,000 new jobs.
There is no word yet on when it will be finished and open to travelers.
