News 12 has learned that a group of public school teachers is asking the Supreme Court to block New York City's coronavirus vaccine mandate for school employees.
Court documents show the group is arguing about an “unconstitutional burden” from the city as well as its Department of Education and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
The group’s lawyers say that by placing the teachers on unpaid leave if they fail to vaccinate, they put the education of thousands at risk.
They are arguing that they should be allowed to opt out through mandatory and weekly testing.
