? A public interest group warns Bronx parents that while playgrounds may be fun, they?re not always safe for kids.
The New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) surveyed seven Bronx playgrounds. It says it found loose tiles and unsafe swings at the Ogden Plimpton Playground. The group says falling accounts for 80 percent of playground injuries.
The city says local playgrounds are nationally recognized for having safe equipment. Many parents support that statement, but say it?s the lack of woodchips and adequate padding to break falls that?s a concern.
