Melanie and Selvin Sinclair never imagined that a regular Wednesday evening would turn into their worst nightmare.

"He had one of the prettiest smiles and he was one of the happiest kids," Melanie Sincair said of her son Stephon.

On July 12, they say their 26-year-old son Stephon Sinclair stepped out to get a bag of chips across the street. But before he could make it back home, police say he was stabbed multiple times in the legs right outside the Tompkins Houses, where the family has lived for more than two decades. Sinclair was rushed to a hospital but didn't survive his injuries.

"He didn't deserve this," his mother told News 12 in an exclusive interview.

The Sinclairs are now imploring anyone with information on the whereabouts of two suspects to come forward.

"If you know where they are, if you have heard from them, if you've talked to them, please don't protect them, don't hide them, don't help them, what they did was wrong, it was evil," Melanie Sinclair said.

Anyone with information is asked to make an anonymous call to the crime stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
