HEADLINES: Fatal head-on accident, teen arrested after shots fired, school bus shortage

Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
Police say a man has died after a crash trapped him in his car in Dutchess County Sunday evening. Police were called to South Amenia Road near Kent Road in Amenia where they say Felix Santiago swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle. Rescue crews had to free Santiago from his car. The 31-year-old was rushed to the hospital where he died.  The occupants in the other car suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.
Shots were fired in the area of South Cherry Street and Cannon Street in Poughkeepsie around 3 p.m. Wednesday. When responding officers arrived, they identified the suspected shooter based on description and recovered a gun. The 16-year-old city resident is now charged with criminal possession of a weapon. The suspect was transported to the city of Beacon Court for arraignment. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the city of Poughkeepsie at (845) 451-4000.
Many parents in Pine Bush are scrambling to find a way to get their kids to and from school today because of a bus driver shortage. The superintendent tells parents there are a number of bus routes with no drivers. While the district works to come up with a solution, school officials have created Facebook groups to help parents get in touch and create carpooling arrangements.
