A St. Catharine Academy senior is possibly on her way in this season's volleyball playoffs to winning a third championship.
Giovanna Valeriano has been quite successful on the volleyball court at the Bronx school. She has already captured two championships during the three years she has been playing.
"I've definitely improved a lot, definitely gotten better with my skills, and I'm proud of that," Valeriano says.
She has also accomplished more off the volleyball court. Valeriano is student council vice president, a member of the National Honor Society and will play in more sports later in the school year.
"I just kind of do stuff as it happens. I never intended to run for anything student council, I didn't mean to make honor society, I just work hard," Valeriano says. "It's difficult, it's challenging, but it's definitely rewarding. It's a challenge that I like to put myself through because it's just ultimately rewarding."
