A church in Highbridge, which has been operating with a hole in their roof for years, will now be restored.
The Highbridge Community Church has been around since the 1880s. A new group of ministries took over in the early 2000s, and they noticed a hole in its roof.
News 12 is told the church has been attempting to fix the roof ever since, and when the pandemic hit, they had to move their congregation into an annex behind the church.
The New York Landmarks Conservancy's Sacred Sites Committee announced it is giving the church a $25,000 grant to use towards the restoration.
Reverend Taitt said that although the grant was a step in the right direction, they still need support from the community.
