Legends of hip-hop came together in Morris Heights on Wednesday to announce the list of artists set to perform at what they’re calling hip-hop’s biggest block party, happening this weekend.
Rap icon KRS-One announced that hip-hop’s 50th anniversary celebration will begin this Friday via livestream ahead of Saturday's block party.
The street will hold a free all-day festival on Saturday that will feature music performances from icons including Chuck D, Grandmaster Flash, The Sugar Hill Gang, Flava Flav, Pop Master Fabel, and Sha-Rock.
Local artists will also be invited to highlight their talents in fashion, beat-boxing and graffiti.
This weekend’s celebration will be the premiere hip-hop show that celebrates the music and the birth of a culture that took place in the Bronx.
