Gov. Kathy Hochul and Democratic legislative leaders in Albany say they have agreed on 10 bills aimed at gun violence prevention.
Some of the measures require the minimum age to buy assault style weapons to be 21 and requiring the person to first obtain a license.
The bills would also make buying bulletproof vests illegal except for people in law enforcement.
New guns would have to be "micro-stamped", which could help authorities link casings to the gun they were used in.
Legislators are expected to vote on the package before the scheduled end of the legislative session on Thursday.
