Home health care workers across the Bronx and city rallied Monday in their effort to get better pay and health coverage.

Well known labor leaders, City Council members, politicians and religious leaders joined in support of the members of Local 1199. Cardinal Edward Egan said the workers serve those most in need and yet they themselves are most in need.

Union members say their demands are pretty straightforward. They want $10 an hour, improved health benefits and a set amount of paid sick and vacation time. Back in 2004, there was an industry wide strike among home health aides. Union members say that's a possibility they have not ruled out.
