Bronx-born baseball player Humberto Sanchez will don the Yankees pinstripes after being traded from the Detroit Tigers.
The Yankees traded Gary Sheffield last week to Detroit for RHP Sanchez, 23, and two other players. Sanchez, who throws up to 96 mph, is the crown jewel of the players in the deal, according to Yankees brass. Sanchez told News 12 The Bronx he?s healthy and ready to take to the baseball diamond after having some elbow problems last year.
Sanchez is a former South Bronx High School baseball player.
