News 12 Storm Watch Team meteorologist Addison Green says Long Island set a new record high temperature on Friday. It reached 90 degrees in Islip, breaking the previous record of 88, set in 2000.
WHAT'S NEW: After a record breaking warm day, where we hit 90 officially at ISP-MacArthur Airport, our temps will be trending much cooler for both Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the low 70s.
WHAT'S NEXT: Summer arrives on Tuesday and we'll see the middle of the week with a few spotty rain chances pop up, but nothing significant at this time.
SATURDAY: Partly cloudy, breezy and cooler! It'll also feel much drier through the day. It'll feel like a great day for a hoodie or light jacket. Expect winds out of the northwest at 10-30 mph. Highs near upper 60s to low 70s.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, winds will linger. Lows near the upper 50s.
SUNDAY - JUNETEETH & FATHER'S DAY: Mostly sunny skies to start with partly cloudy skies later. Out east, expect more cloud cover and an isolated shower. Breezy, northwest winds will slowly back down from 10-20 mph. Highs near the low 70s.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Fair and pleasantly cool. Lows near upper 50s.
MONDAY: *Pick of the week* Mostly sunny, mild and pleasant. Highs near 80.
