Hour-by-hour forecast: Early morning thunderstorms on the way
A series of thunderstorms will boom their way across New York City this morning.
The storms will bring the potential for brief downpours and some gusts of wind. Though not severe, they could cause headaches for people traveling on the roads as there could be some intense lightning.
After the storms push through, things should clear up and temps will climb to about 79 degrees, cooler than days past, with mostly cloudy conditions.

News 12 meteorologists are monitoring Tropical Storm Isaias as it impacts Puerto Rico and heads toward the East Coast.
They say it appears the tropical cyclone will hug the coast and brush NYC area most likely on Tuesday. There is some timing discrepancies as we are unsure if the storm will slow down as it approaches Florida.
The storm has to battle through an area of wind shear, which reduces the storm's ability to intensify. Since the area of wind shear in question is strong, it provides low favorability for further development. It is possible that this storm can blow through this region without seeing an intensity change due to warmer waters acting as a reinforcing feature.
