Community members gathered at the Bronx Park East Dog Run for the fourth year to celebrate dogs and dog owners.
Paws on Pelham Parkway held its annual dog costume parade as a way to bring the community together and have some fun. The event included free dog prizes, pup cups and different goodies for pets and pet owners.
Katie McAllister, cofounder of Paws on Pelham Parkway, says they asked pet owners to bring pet food to support local charities. She says donations have helped local senior citizens keep their pets without the burden of cost. "We just really wanted to unify people to come and celebrate their dogs," McAllister said.
McAllister says Paws on Pelham Parkway also holds similar events to celebrate Christmas and Easter.
