Tropical Storm Debby is impacting the Carolinas, with round after round of heavy rain, gusty winds and causing flooding concerns in numerous areas.

The Hudson Valley has had its own fair share of heavy rain and flood issues, as most recently as Tuesday afternoon.

But it could be dealing with another round of flood issues - this time from tropical rains, as Debby moves up the East Coast.

The system will weaken to a tropical depression, and then eventually a remnant low, as it races northward. This will happen over the course of Thursday into Friday, as it moves away from the Carolinas and into Virginia, then Pennsylvania. With the ground soaked, especially across hard hid Southern Westchester County, it will not take much rain to lead to more flooding issues. The majority of the region is underneath a medium risk for flash flooding Friday afternoon into the overnight hours.

Not only will the system bring heavy rain to the area, but also strong wind gusts towards the range of 30-50+ mph.

The Hudson Valley will be threatened from the Friday afternoon rush towards the 9 to 10 p.m. hour. Waterlogged grounds, combined with leaf-packed trees, could lead to down trees in numerous spots. Those trees could fall on power lines and power outages could be far and wide.

Thankfully, this system is coming in quickly, and leaving in the same fashion. After the morning hours, the heaviest rains are moving away, allowing Saturday to be mainly dry with breezy winds and a mix of sun and clouds. We will get a nice dry stretch starting Saturday afternoon and lasting through much of next week.
