An employee at a Hunts Point warehouse is lucky to be alive after scuffling with an armed robber Friday.
Ben Niederman says he was confronted by a gunman demanding money before 5 a.m. at the Miron Produce warehouse. Niederman says he struggled with the gunman and tried to run away. He says the suspect fired a shot at him but missed. Niederman says the robber then caught up with him and began pistol-whipping him. The suspect got away with some cash.
The victim says the crime was caught on surveillance video, which is now in the hands of the NYPD. Employees at the warehouse say they would like to see more police presence in the area, especially late at night and early in the morning.
