Sleepless nights due to noise construction are over for a Longwood resident who reached out to News 12.
Longwood resident Whitney Lawrence says she wasn't sleeping due to the noise from construction late at night on the Bruckner Expressway. According to Lawrence, things changed the very night her story aired on News 12.
"It's much calmer, better situation for everybody, I can sleep better. I can sleep in my room. It's been great. I really appreciate what you guys did," she adds.
News 12 reached out to the city's Department of Transportation to see what specific changes have been made to construction. In a statement, the department said it "re-scheduled several high impact operations for daytime hours."
Other Longwood residents say the sound isn't as big of a problem as the traffic. They also say a lot drivers get confused because of the road deviations.
This third and final phase of the Hunts Point Access Improvement Project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2025.
