A Morrisania grandmother says a ceiling collapse the bedroom of her apartment has created a nightmare - as well as safety issues.

Noemi Cotto says she has had to spend nights on her couch after the collapse that occurred in the middle of the night.

Cotto says, luckily, she was not home when the incident occurred.

She has lived in her Teller Avenue apartment since 1984, and says her complaints to NYCHA haven't helped. She says temporary repairs won't solve what she calls a very permanent issue.

"I raised my grandkids here. I helped raise my grandkids, my daughter, you know? And now that this is gone," said Cotto.

News 12 reached out to NYCHA.

NYCHA says staff visited the apartment and are working with the resident to address concerns. They say plumbers have repaired a leak from a neighboring apartment and additional repairs will be addressed.
