A man was killed after losing control of his car and slamming into a tree off the Belt Parkway early Sunday, police say.
News 12 is told the 31-year-old victim, identified as Jason Rivera, was discovered unconscious and unresponsive with serious injuries all over his body sometime after midnight near Exit 9.
Investigators tell News 12 that the victim was speeding while driving westbound on the parkway, and say he may have been drag racing.
The victim was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital.
Investigators also tell News 12 that the car was going so fast that the damage to it made it hard to tell its make and model.
They say they couldn't find a license plate.
Police say they are still looking into whether the victim was under the influence or drag racing.
No one else was hurt in the crash.
