A Bronx food pantry is helping to feed hundreds of families as the borough continues to deal with the effects of the pandemic.
The Islamic Circle of North America and other local partners have been holding the event every Saturday since the pandemic started on Holland Avenue in Morris Park.
Neighbors can come out to grab fresh produce, canned goods and other essential items for free.
Organizers say it's their way to help the community during these times.
"People are rising up, they need food on the table," says Shabbir Gul, director of ICNA Relief. "We have over 300 families come, now you see three to four blocks of people are waiting since 6 a.m. for the food. They don't have food at home."
The group also holds other pantries throughout the week at other locations.
