Businesses in Islip are teaming up to start a new initiative called "Going Local Week." The goal is to boost support for small businesses.

Over 80 businesses in Islip are offering specialty deals from Monday, March 24, to Sunday, March 30. You have to mention you are "Going Local" to get the discount!

Melissa Farrell from Going Local Long Island and Chef Michael Landesberg teamed up to start the 'Going Local Week' initiative in the Town of Islip.

"It's not about a moment. It's a movement. And as I keep receiving messages from tons of businesses, we decided to make this a bigger campaign where we try to promote all local businesses on Long Island, and we decided where else is better than Islip." Chef Michael Landesberg, Managing Partner of Jackson Hall.

Anthony Mastrantonio has been running Dang BBQ for eight years. He is hoping to keep the doors open for many more years to come.

“The community has been great; they have supported us. We were on the verge of closing our doors a month ago, and they have come out here, and they showed us they wanted us to be part of the community and were going to be here as long as we can,” said Anthony Mastrantonio, Owner of Dang BBQ.

Participating businesses are listed here.
